Primary Purpose:
Provide oversight on the implementation of truancy prevention and at risk services. Provide consultation services and training to campus staff and administration. Counsel students and parents in an effort to encourage school attendance and educational success.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in Social Sciences or Education
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions
Knowledge of compulsory attendance law and local district policy
Awareness and ability to access community resources
Prepare reports on activities to inform management of accomplishments, issues, and problems
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Able to follow guidelines, be flexible and adaptable to change
Working knowledge of computerized word processing programs and spreadsheets
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years experience in social service programming for at risk youth and their families
Experience in implementing truancy prevention and other district initiatives
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as a resource for campus personnel in developing and maintaining campus attendance procedures.
- Investigate cases referred due to unexcused absences from school.
- Enforce provisions of compulsory attendance law and the local district policy.
- Counsel with students and parents in an effort to prevent truancy and unnecessary absences.
- Coordinate and collaborate with campus to provide appropriate interventions in an effective manner.
- Make home visits upon notification from the principals or other school authorities of suspected truancy and/or other social service needs.
- Maintain documentation regarding contacts made and student outcome.
- Review and analyze all student attendance data and present data to campus staff.
- Facilitate communication between school personnel, students and parents.
- Oversee at risk social services for the district.
- Conduct parent meetings concerning at risk social service opportunities.
- Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations related to job assignment.
- Assist student service team members, coordinating services to insure that the needs of the student and the family are met.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
