Primary Purpose:

 

To maintain the day to day operations of the Athletic Field House and Athletic fields.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma

Valid Texas Drivers license

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.

Ability to operate hand and power tools.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to communicate effectively. (Verbally)

Ability to operate tractor and landscaping equipment.

Ability to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand tools.

Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.

Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.

Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.

Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Grounds and Landscaping

  1. Mow and detail high school athletic fields.
  2. Care for trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds.
  3. Plant shrubs and vegetation
  4. Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.
  5. Water grounds and apply fertilizer.
  6. Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from Athletic facilities
  7. Assist with the inspections, repairs, and installation of sprinkler systems
  8. Performs other duties as assigned

Maintenance and Repair

  1. Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  2. Hang mirrors, blackboards, bulletin boards, towels and soap dispensers, and other items required.
  3. Yearly painting maintenance including but not limited to weight room, locker rooms, hallways, doors and curbs.
  4. Install door and window assemblies and hardware, including window glass and screens
  5. Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff
  6. Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by Athletic Director.

Cleaning

  1. Keep Field house and grounds, including, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.
  2. Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
  3. Scrub and buff field house hallways, offices and training room.

Laundry

  1. Wash and dry athletic apparel.
  2. Maintain washers and dryers
  3. Clean out lint trap and dryers.
  4. Distribute clean Athletic Apparel and Uniforms when needed.

Safety 

  1. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
  2. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
  3. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  4. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  5. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.

  8. Help keep vehicle and equipment in safe operating condition.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

Working in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around gas lines, around fumes and toxic chemicals outside and inside.

Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors.

Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.

Working around moving objects or vehicles.
